by Jill Lea L. Adrales Local and international educational tours were conducted last summer participated in by Leyte Normal University (LNU) faculty and personnel. On local tours, 17 places were visited. On April 13-17, 27 faculty and personnel visited the Civil Service Commission, The House of Senate and The House of Congress. While eight faculty members went to the Bulacan State University, Manuel L. Quezon University and Philippine Normal University.
On April 16-18, Ateneo de Manila University was visited by a personnel and a faculty member. On April 19-22, the Philippine Pediatric Society, Inc. conducted the 46th annual convention at the Philippine International Convention Center, bannering the theme: “The Filipino child’s health status: Old problems, New questions and Future directions.” The event was partaken in by Dr. Rowena Enage- De Veyra, LNU physician. On May 4-8, 30 faculty and personnel visited the Civil Service Commission, Office of the Ombudsman and Bataan Peninsula State University. On May 6-10, 15 faculty and personnel went to visit the Batangas State University and the University of Batangas. The last batch, made up of 26 faculty and personnel, went to De La Salle University, Bataan Peninsula State University and Benguet State University. After visiting the universities, the travelers went to visit the Manila Ocean Park. On the other hand, the International Educational tour visited seven universities in other state countries. On April 20-24, 20 faculty and personnel went to Hong Kong to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong. On May 28-June 8, Dr. Evelyn Aguirre, LNU director for External Affairs, went to the University of California, State University of New York and to the Language Learning and Resource Center. Dr. Evelyn C. Cruzada, University President; Ms. Juvy Mariano, Board Secretary and 19 faculty members went to China last June 1-5. They went to visit the Shanghai Jiaotong University and East China Normal University. Lastly, Dr. Marietta Arinto, LNU Vice-President for Administration and Dr. Conchita Avestruz, Dean of College of Management and Entrepreneurship (CME), went to visit the California State University. |
