by Kaycee T. Estabillo Two heads are better than one. This has been proven once more as the Bachelor of Arts in Communication and the Information Technology Units of Leyte Normal University celebrate ABCom and IT month, January 2010.
Anchored on the theme “Effective Media Communication through Information Technology”, this year’s celebration of ABCom and IT month aims to make use of the advent of new technologies as precursors to a more effective mass media communication. In connection with the said celebration, the AB Communication unit set up an exhibit at the LNU AV studio showcasing the outputs of the communication students in the different fields of mass media. Outputs of ABCom students such as printed shirts, leaflets and newsletters are displayed at the exhibit. Technical equipments ranging from 1960’s to the present such as u-matic tapes and cameras, video tape players and audio mixers are also shown. Moreover a mini movie house is set-up where the visitors could watch the television productions of ABCom students like commercials, documentaries, music videos and short films. A photo studio is arranged where the visitors can take pictures of themselves while handling the technical equipments for them to feel like an ABCom student for a day. Radio productions such as radio spots and radio dramas are aired at the mini radio station. A mini printing shop is also set-up where the visitors are taught about the basics of silk-screen printing. The exhibit opens from 9-12 in the morning and from 1-5 in the afternoon. “With the exhibit, it has been proven once more that ABCom students do not only have skills, they also have taste,” said Paul James Ancao, the ABCom Society president. |
