Solar eclipse seen in the Philippines Print E-mail

The solar eclipse that transpired on January 15, 2010 was recorded as the longest solar eclipse in terms of duration since 1992 and the first eclipse seen in this millennium. Philippine Atmospheric, Geographical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) identified four resident areas in the Philippines that have seen the said eclipse such as the Cagayan Island which had the highest eclipse magnitude of 50.6 percent, Laoag city was at 48.8 percent, Metro Manila viewed it at 39.1 percent and General Santos city got the lowest percentage of eclipse magnitude at 12.6 percent.

  Leyte Normal University (LNU), being the Center of Excellence in teacher education embraced benediction of its renovated Jose B. Ledesma Building as a Center for Teaching Excellence on November 20, 2009.

The blessing which was attended by Dr. Evelyn Cruzada, the university president, and some of the faculty members of LNU, was invoked by Fr. Alvin Nicolasora

With the theme “Breaking barriers; bridging gaps through language and literature,” Leyte Normal University had a month-long celebration of the English month in cooperation with the English Circle and Faculty.

                According to Prof. Ma. Rocini E. Tenasas, Head of Languages & Literature Unit, ”(the celebration) gives emphasis on how relevant the English language is in our life today that it gives us awareness as to its position not only in our society but also in the whole world, it being a global language. English is at the leading edge of technological and scientific development, new thinking in economics and management, new literature and entertainment genres, making it the world’s possession and property.”

LNU procures bus Print E-mail

Leyte Normal University (LNU) procured a bus last year and was brought to LNU on October 5 this year.

                The LNU administration acquired the bus through the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management for P1, 294,800.

The bus can be used for the tour of the students and likewise for the staff and faculty. It can also be rented by other   institutions.

Education University Presidents Sign Pledge in Asian Roundtable Meet Print E-mail

 Administrators from different universities of education converged in Hong Kong and made a common pledge for the betterment of education in their respective societies today and for the future.


                With a common sight set on the crucial role of education in developing human capacities to meet the ever-expanding challenges of today, the education leaders, representing 45 institutions from 16 countries, all agreed in the increasing demand of, and the growing role of teachers in society.

Dr. Evelyn C. Cruzada signed the document on behalf of the Leyte Normal University last May 22, 2009.

ABCOM Unit deploys interns Print E-mail

                A total of 36 AB communication (ABCOM) interns were stationed into four different internship agencies where it will take them 250 hours of time completion of the practicum and it will deem them necessary to comply the requirements set by every agency.

 Nine interns were deployed each in Leyte-Samar (LeySam) Daily Express-print, T.V. Patrol Tacloban-T.V., M.O.R. 94.3 (ABS-CBN)-FM radio, and Radyo Diwa-AM radio.
