| Regional Cheer dance Competition held; LNU bags 3rd place |

The Leyte Normal University (LNU) contingent landed on 3rd spot in the 8th Annual Regional Cheer dance Competition held last November 12, 2009 at the Leyte National High School (LNHS) Gymnasium.
The competition organized by the Pintados Foundation commenced at 2 o’clock in the afternoon and was participated in by different elementary, secondary and tertiary schools in the region. Participants in the college level were delegates from Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Ormoc Campus, EVSU Main Campus, St. Paul’s School of Business and Law (SPSBL), Asian Development Foundation College (ADFC) and LNU. EVSU Main, ADFC and LNU landed on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, respectively. In the secondary level, participants came from LNHS, Southern Leyte, Burauen, Ormoc and Naval. Naval, LNHS and Burauen schools grabbed 1st, 2nd and 3rd spots respectively. In the elementary level, cheer dancers from Ormoc, Sagkahan and San Fernando bagged 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, respectively. Other participants came from Rizal Central School, San Jose Central and Panalaron Elementary School. Prizes were P30, 000 for the 1st place, P20,000 for the 2nd place and P10,000 for the 3rd place. Winners of the said event will qualify for the National Cheer Dance Competition. Meanwhile, the LNU contingent, with Prof. Jose Lianza as Cultural Director, Prof. Victoria Diaz as Coach and Mr. Lito Sanchez as choreographer, had two weeks preparation for the contest. The participants were mainly composed of students from other year levels who passed the auditions. The LNU delegation was made possible by the combined efforts of the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). |
