LNU Co-Sponsors SalikLakbay Solutions Mapping Immersion

Leyte Normal University (LNU) hosted the SalikLakbay Solutions Mapping Trainer’s Training and Immersion, a program of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Philippines, an initiative under Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development (GRIND) program of DOST, on March 27, 2023, at the LNU Ballroom Hall.

SalikLakbay is derived from two Filipino words, Saliksik and Lakbay, which means to research and journey. The program aims to create awareness of the relevance of Grassroots Innovations (GIs) and strengthen the network of advocates or experts in the Philippines and Asia supporting the GRIND Framework, which incorporates the participation of the government, civil society organizations, academe, and industry.

Meanwhile, GIs are innovative products, processes, or technology created by people from the countryside, usually due to necessity, hardship, or challenge. Hence, the GRIND program aims to empower the marginalized community by further providing opportunities to stimulate overall growth and utilizing community-led solutions geared toward sustainable development.

The event was participated by representatives from Department of Science and Technology, National Economic and Development Authority, Philippine Information Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine National Police, Basiao Native Weavers Association, LGU Basey, and members of the media.
