LNU Programmers Placed 5th and 10th in the first EVCO 2023


In a thrilling development for the tech-savvy community, two teams composed of Normalista student programmers of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) from Leyte Normal University (LNU) placed 5th and 10th, competing with 60 teams from 19 Higher Education Institutions in the region in the recently concluded 1st Eastern Visayas Coding Olympics (EVCO) 2023, hosted by Samar State University, on October 23.

Team LNU-CSig, competing in Strand-1, which focused on C Programming, secured 5th place and was awarded Best Performing Team from Tacloban. Meanwhile, Team LNU-Java Rise, who ventured into the domain of Java Programming in Strand-2, also made a notable mark by placing 10th. Mr. Raffy Dalan and Mr. Jeffrey Cinco, LNU-IT Instructors, coached the two teams, respectively.

EVCO 2023 is a programming competition open to all undergraduate students from member institutions of the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) Eastern Visayas. The programming contest aims to provide a competitive and intellectually stimulating platform where students can showcase their problem-solving skills, algorithmic proficiency, and programming skills by solving complex computational challenges within a limited time frame.
