LNU Foregrounds Global Workforce Rights in an International Webinar

Intending to safeguard opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industries, Leyte Normal University’s College of Management and Entrepreneurship (CME) spearheaded an online webinar on March 8, at LNU Multipurpose Hall.

Vice President of Local Union UNIFOR and a Filipino-Canadian Celebrity Chef, Mark Uy served as the resource speaker, providing a talk about “Protecting the Rights of International Workforce: Canadian Hospitality and Tourism Sectors’ Overview.”

The talk’s goal was to spread awareness of the rights of tourism and hospitality industry workers in an international arena, specifically in Canada. This open dialogue serves as a reminder to all workers that the industries are noble fields and thus deserve to be treated with dignity.

The event was attended by Dr. Evangeline Sanchez, Dean of the College of Management and Entrepreneurship; Prof. Juliet Lerios, Local/International Practicum Coordinator; Marc Llaneras, Academic Chair of HM/TM Department; CME students; and faculty members.
