Student Mobility and Exchange

About

Leyte Normal University (LNU) offers valuable opportunities for students to enhance and broaden their learning experiences and develop a deeper understanding of other countries' social and cultural dynamics. These programs serve as avenues for students to participate in internships and exchange programs in international settings, enabling them to gain practical experience and develop cross-cultural competencies.

To effectively manage and oversee inbound and outbound internship and exchange programs, the International and External Linkages Office collaborates closely with the Vice-President of the Academic Services Office, Vice-President of the Student Development Office, and Vice-President of the Administration and Finance Office.

The institution provides two key programs under student mobility: the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) and the Student Exchange Abroad Program (SEAP).

These internships provide valuable hands-on experience and are conducted in academic institutions or industries in countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, the United States, and other countries with bilateral or multilateral agreements with LNU

    Student Exchange Abroad Program (SEAP)

The SEAP provides students opportunities for international exchanges for LNU (outbound) and international students (inbound). Students of LNU participate in short – or long-term programs in partners HEI abroad. Similarly, foreign exchange students gain academic, social, and cultural experiences inside the university and the community.

As part of their Internship, three students from LNU participated in the University’s Innovation Program with Indonesia in Pendidikan, Indonesia, in January 2023 as part of the WURI Multicultural, Multidisciplinary, Mobility Program for Students.

Student Participation in International Based Competition

Leyte Normal University's delegates from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) clinch 2nd place during the 1st International Creative Events Design Competition in Palembang Polytechnic of Tourism in Indonesia held via ZOOM on June 3.
The delegates, namely Jasmin Dacaymat Bacsal, Zarina C. Dungca, Vinz Capon Pajares, and Antolin Aguirre, bested 21 competing teams from different universities and countries in Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

In an exclusive interview, Bacsal shared how the team's coordination and oneness led to them achieving victory.

"Our group is composed of unique individuals. Distinct planning and brainstorming provide us with the exclusive event design. We listen and consider each other’s concerns. We worked with hard work and coordination. Therefore, we believe that it is our oneness that sets us aside from the rest and achieves victory," Bacsal shared. Meanwhile, Dungca added that they felt proud as they could raise the banner of LNU on a global scale.
“It feels unreal until now that we represent the school in an abroad competition. Because the moments and experiences still linger all over us. But we are grateful and proud that we had something to contribute to the university,”
With their mentors, Dr. Evangeline V. Sanchez and Prof. Marc Y. Llarenes, the Normalistas will receive a $300 cash prize. On the other hand, the Philippine Air Transport and Training Services (PATTS) College of Aeronautics emerged as the first place, while the Lyceum of the Philippines University–Laguna landed third in the competition. The first-ever International Creative Events Design Competition was organized by the Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management (APIEM) in partnership with the Palembang Polytechnic of Tourism, Indonesia.
