LNU Names Top 5 Finalists for Most Outstanding Teacher; Winner to be Revealed at Dayaw Awards

Leyte Normal University has officially concluded the final phase of its Search for Most Outstanding Teacher, completing a rigorous, multi-stage evaluation process that underscores the institution’s commitment to excellence in instruction, research, and service.
The selection process covered three major components: comprehensive document evaluation, classroom observation, and panel interview. Each stage was carefully designed to ensure a transparent, evidence-based, and performance-oriented assessment of the nominees’ academic competence, pedagogical innovation, scholarly productivity, and meaningful institutional engagement.

Serving as external panel member was Dr. Leo Camposano of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), whose participation strengthened the integrity and credibility of the evaluation process and ensured alignment with national standards for quality assurance in higher education.
Named as this year’s five distinguished finalists are:
• Prof. Rutchelle E. Caliwan
• Prof. Rhodora Navarro
• Dr. Fabiana P. Peneda
• Atty. Alma Sonia Q. Sanchez-Danday
• Dr. Mary Ann C. Sedanza
Each finalist demonstrated exemplary teaching performance, robust academic credentials, and a sustained commitment to student development and institutional advancement.
The official announcement of the Most Outstanding Teacher will take place during the highly anticipated Dayaw Awards, the university’s premier recognition ceremony honoring outstanding contributions of faculty, personnel, and students.
Through this initiative, Leyte Normal University continues to strengthen its culture of academic distinction and to recognize educators who embody its mission of transformative and responsive teacher education.
