Its primary responsibility is to formulate, implement, and evaluate overarching policies and strategic directions that govern the institution’s academic, administrative, and financial operations to ensure alignment with national development goals.

Additionally, the Board holds comprehensive authority over fiscal and personnel management. It is tasked with approving the university’s annual budget, managing government appropriations and internally generated revenues, appointing key university officials—including the president, vice presidents, and faculty members—and authorizing academic programs, institutional partnerships, and infrastructural development projects.
