CHED Commissioner Ong Delivers Micro-Credentials Lecture as LNU Explores Future-Ready Learning

TACLOBAN CITY, PHILIPPINES (March 5, 2026) – Lecture on Micro-Credentials Delivered by CHED Commissioner and Chairperson Designate of Leyte Normal University (LNU) Board of Regents, Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong at LNU Ballroom Hall.

As part of the 105th Founding Anniversary celebration of LNU, CHED Commissioner and LNU Chairperson Designate Dr. Michelle Aguilar Ong delivered a lecture on micro-credentials, highlighting their role in equipping learners with industry-relevant skills through focused and flexible learning experiences.

In her talk, Dr. Ong emphasized that micro-credentials recognize specific competencies gained through short-term training that complement traditional degree programs and respond to the evolving demands of the workforce.

The session was attended by the LNU Management Committee led by University President Dr. Gil Nicetas P. Villarino, along with faculty members, as part of the university’s continuing efforts to explore innovative and responsive approaches to higher education during its 105th founding anniversary celebration.
