Leyte Normal University honored its newest pool of advanced scholars during its Graduate School Hooding Ceremony for Master’s and Doctoral candidates held June 15, 2026, at the HRDC Multipurpose Hall.

Leading the ceremony were University President Dr. Gil Nicetas B. Villarino, members of the Management Committee, and guest speaker Atty. Alona Medalia Cadiz-Gabejana—an LNU alumna, research coordinator, and faculty member of the College of Education at Samar State University. As academic leaders and esteemed mentors, they formally conferred the academic hoods and caps upon the candidates.

Dr. Cleofe L. Lajara, Dean of the Graduate School, reminded the candidates that being hooded is more than just a ceremonial garment: “It is a public affirmation of your dedication to learning, your mastery of a chosen discipline, and your readiness to contribute meaningfully to society. It signifies your formal entry into a community of scholars—individuals entrusted not only with knowledge but also with the responsibility to use that knowledge in service of humanity.”

This tradition is a testament that the university’s mission goes beyond producing advanced scholars and celebrating their achievement, but commissions them to step up as champions of truth. It calls its graduates to leverage their scholarship to solve real-world problems and spark positive, lasting social transformation.
