BABATNGON, LEYTE, PHILIPPINES – Formal Turnover of Research Outputs and Recognition of Contributions to the Presentation of Malibago’s Sinulog at Busay Falls Resort.

Leyte Normal University officially turned over its Normalista research outputs documenting the Sinulog tradition of Malibago to the Local Government Unit of Babatngon, Leyte.

Dubbed “Formal Turnover of Research Outputs and Recognition of Contributions to the Preservation of Malibago’s Sinulog,” the ceremony was held at Busay Falls Resort in Babatngon on July 28, 2026.

Bachelor of Physical Education Normalistas Charlotte Mae Sabus, Jomel Alvarez, Manuel Cajeda, Jr., Daphne Cordero, Tiny Carson, and Thaddeus Matthew Coral formally donated their undergraduate thesis to the Municipality of Babatngon.

Meanwhile, LNU Master in Physical Education alumna Eddylaine Marie M. Pineda turned over her master’s thesis, Malibago’s Sinulog: A Documentation of Dance-Drama Intricacies. Both research works were advised by Dr. Maricar Tegero.

The research outputs documented the history, practices, and cultural significance of Malibago’s Sinulog tradition and can help in safeguarding and promoting the Malibago Sinulog Dance-Drama.

These contributions were formally recognized and adopted by the Municipality of Babatngon through a municipal resolution and ordinance.

Through this initiative, LNU underscores its continuing commitment to safeguarding cultural heritage through research and meaningful community partnerships.
