Leyte Normal University (LNU), through its Sentro ng Wika at Kultura, hosted the Pambansang Webinar sa Tertulyang Pangwika at Writeshop on August 26, 2026, with the theme “Mula sa Salinlahi Hanggang AI: Bilang Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik, Pagtataya, at Pagtuturo.”

The event highlighted the meaningful, responsible, and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support research brainstorming, data analysis, instructional material development, designing assessment tools, and evaluation. It also emphasized that technology should complement — rather than replace — the critical thinking, creativity, integrity, and accountability of educators, students, and researchers, using it as a vital tool to enrich academic practice.

The webinar featured experts, including Dr. Joel B. Lopez, who discussed the topic on “Baybayin: Mula Salinlahi Hanggang AI”; Dr. Las Johansen B. Caluza for “Filipino Bilang Wika ng Pananaliksik at Paglikha ng Kaalaman”; Dr. Orlando P. Vinculado Jr., for “AI sa Pagtataya: Pagsusulit, TOS, at mga Kagamitang Pampagtuturo”; and Ms. Louvesa Idda Galban, for “AI bilang Kasangkapan sa Pagpapahusay ng Pagtuturo at Pagkatuto.”

The event brought together experts, educators, researchers, and students from various institutions, who are united in advancing and celebrating the Filipino language, research, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

Overall, the webinar and writeshop served as an essential innovation for bridging traditional knowledge, the Filipino language, and modern technology—particularly AI—for a more innovative, meaningful, ethical, and responsible research, assessment, and instruction.
