SDG 8 - DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

8.4 - Proportion of students with work placements

To ensure students are fully prepared for the dynamic demands of the global workforce, our university embeds structured experiential learning and practical industry training directly into academic degree programs.

This metric evaluates the proportion of full-time equivalent (FTE) students required to complete professional work placements lasting longer than one month as an integral component of their formal curriculum. By integrating extended, real-world employment experiences into higher education, our institution actively bridges theoretical knowledge with professional application, driving high graduate employability and fostering lifelong career readiness.

8.4.1 - Proportion of students with work placements

To evaluate student workforce readiness, Leyte Normal University tracks the proportion of full-time equivalent students completing extended professional work placements lasting over a month as part of their academic degree requirements.

Number of students

The full-time equivalent (FTE) student body shifted from 7,374 students in 2022 to 7,182 students in 2023, representing a slight contraction of 192 students, or a 2.61% decrease in total enrollment year-over-year. In the 2024 academic cycle, total student enrollment rebounded to 7,277 students, marking an increase of 95 students, or a 1.32% growth compared to 2023. Across the entire three-year reporting period, institutional enrollment has demonstrated strong overall stability, maintaining a steady baseline between 7,100 and 7,400 students while narrowing the net change between 2022 and 2024 to a minor 1.32% overall variation.

Number of students with work placements for more than a month

The count of students completing mandatory industry placements lasting longer than one month was 2,240 in 2022 and 2,182 in 2023. Although the absolute number of placed students dropped by 58 individuals in 2023 alongside the overall enrollment contraction, the placement rate remained constant at exactly 30.38% of the student population across both years. This indicates that institutional capacity for long-term experiential learning scaled proportionally with enrollment, maintaining identical access to practical workforce preparation across academic cohorts.
