Leyte Normal University (LNU), through its Intellectual Property Office (IPO), secured national recognition at the 2026 ITSO Presidents’ Summit held on March 25 in Iloilo City, affirming its leadership in innovation and intellectual property management.

The University was conferred the prestigious Platinum Cluster Award, one of the highest distinctions within the Innovation and Technology Support Office Network. It also received two Special Citations for outstanding intellectual property generation, having filed over 50 copyright applications and more than 10 patent applications.

These recognitions highlight LNU’s sustained commitment to advancing research, innovation, and intellectual property protection. The University continues to empower its academic community to transform ideas into protected and impactful contributions to national development.

Receiving the awards were University President Dr. Gil Nicetas Villarino, IPO General Manager Dr. Jefferson Flores, and IPO Technical Expert Prof. Vanessa Tagaro.
The achievement reinforces LNU’s position as a leading institution in intellectual property development and innovation, strengthening its role in knowledge creation and technology transfer in the Philippines.
