LNU Joins CHED-Led Summit, Expands Student Opportunities Through Clark Internship Partnership

BACOLOR, PAMPANGA, PHILIPPINES (July 09-10, 2026) – Two-Day Strategic Summit led by CHED Commissioner Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong at Pampanga State University.
Leyte Normal University (LNU), represented by University President Dr. Gil Nicetas B. Villarino, joined 21 other state universities and colleges (SUCs) in a two-day strategic summit, led by CHED Commissioner Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong, to strengthen inter-university collaboration and advance opportunities for students through industry partnerships.
A key highlight of the summit was the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the Clark Investors and Locators Association (CILA), the participating SUCs, Pampanga State University as the lead institution, and the Commission on Higher Education. The agreement establishes a pilot framework for local internship, student exchange, and industry immersion programs, providing students access to leading companies in Clark Freeport’s semiconductor, electronics, logistics, and other priority industries.
The initiative forms part of CHED’s pilot program under Commissioner Ong’s cluster of 22 SUCs and is expected to serve as the basis for a future national policy on local internships and student exchange programs, broadening learning and employment opportunities for students across the country.
