Leyte Normal University (LNU) officially opened Academic Year 2026–2027 through a Flag-Raising Ceremony led by the LNU Supreme Student Council (SSC), held at the LNU-ORC Quadrangle on August 17, 2026.

The ceremony was attended by students, faculty members, administrative personnel, and university officials, led by LNU President Dr. Gil Nicetas B. Villarino. It formed part of the series of activities under “Dayon Normalista,” which aims to welcome and energize students as they return for another academic year.

A highlight of the activity was the warm welcome extended to freshmen, transferees, and returnees as they continue their journey as Normalista. The program was further enlivened by performances from Tingog Dumagsa, the LNU Dance Company, and the LNU Indigenous Dance Kolektib.

As the new academic year begins, the LNU community once again gathered to celebrate new beginnings, strengthen the spirit of unity, and prepare every Normalista for another chapter of learning, growth, and service.
