TACLOBAN CITY – Leyte Normal University (LNU) joined the National ASEAN Flag Raising Ceremony today, November 3, in support of the Philippines’ hosting of ASEAN 2026, reaffirming the University’s commitment to regional cooperation, unity, and cultural understanding.

The simultaneous ceremonies were held at the Youngfield Area, hosted by the English Circle (EC), and at the Main Campus, hosted by the English Language Studies Enthusiasts (ELSE). Both gatherings brought together members of the University community in celebrating ASEAN solidarity and the shared identity of Southeast Asian nations.

Adding color to the occasion, LNU employees came dressed in ASEAN-inspired attire, showcasing the region’s rich cultural diversity. Trivia questions about ASEAN also engaged participants in the main campus, with prizes awarded to those who correctly answered, making the ceremony both informative and enjoyable.

The flag-raising activities likewise marked the opening of English Month at LNU, highlighting the role of the English language in communication, learning, and cross-cultural exchange.

Through these initiatives, LNU continues to promote cultural appreciation, regional awareness, and the importance of language in fostering meaningful connections among peoples and nations.
