We understand that local water bodies are vital to our city’s health. Through various water conservation efforts, we are leading the rehabilitation of the local water streams in the city. Our participation in World Water Day and campus-wide conservation policies demonstrates our hands-on commitment to protecting our community’s water resources.
Policies Towards Clean Water and Sanitation
Leyte Normal University’s approach to clean water and sanitation is comprehensively defined and formally institutionalized within its Integrated Environmental Management and Resilience Policy (IEMRP). This foundational document serves as the university’s official framework, elevating its commitments from mere practices to mandated policy. It provides the high-level authority for all activities related to ensuring a safe, reliable supply of potable water and the responsible management of all campus-wide wastewater.
The IEMRP provides the strategic direction for the university’s entire water cycle. It institutionalizes the goals of environmental compliance, pollution prevention, and sustainable resource use. This policy framework is what empowers the university to implement and enforce its various programs, such as comprehensive wastewater treatment, water conservation initiatives, and the promotion of a campus-wide culture of responsible water use, ensuring all efforts are unified under a single, official strategy.
Research on Clean Water and Sanitation
Gender responsiveness and equity are exemplified in researches authored by the faculty of Leyte Normal University that are interspersed within the lens of gender intersectionality. Scholarly papers were published in peer-reviewed international journals that illuminates gender empowerment benefiting the studentry, the institution, and the society at large. Having a strong research grounding on gender concerns forms an extensive basis for implementing policies and programs guiding the institution in its strong commitment towards privileging women and other marginalized groups in an atmosphere of gender equity towards gender equality.
Leyte Normal University’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 6 extends directly into its academic and institutional research endeavors. The university actively facilitates and conducts studies focused on enhancing water security, monitoring water quality, and developing sustainable water management practices. This research agenda which ranges from analyzing the effectiveness of campus-based water reuse systems to contributing faculty expertise to global water and climate panels—aims to generate practical knowledge that supports both the university’s operational goals and the broader community’s need for sustainable water solutions.
