LNU Partners with Global Organizations to Advance Sustainable Development Goals
Leyte Normal University (LNU) is deeply involved in sustainable development efforts through its global partnerships with universities and United Nations organizations, actively participating in data gathering, problem analysis, and intervention design. Led by Dr. Jonas Villas, LNU’s Research Director, the university has contributed to significant international initiatives such as the Water and Climate Youth Development Plan and Agenda at the UN Water Conference in March 2023, as well as the UNFCCC Conference of Parties in Egypt.
These collaborations provide LNU with critical data and insights, empowering it to develop localized, effective interventions that support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in areas of water conservation and the preservation of marine ecosystems (SDG 14: Life Below Water). This engagement strengthens LNU’s capacity to address challenges such as water pollution, habitat loss, and the impacts of climate change on marine life. By leveraging best practices and fostering outreach programs, LNU supports efforts to protect biodiversity, enhance water quality, and ensure sustainable use of aquatic resources, thus making a lasting impact on marine ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. Through research, development, and international partnerships, LNU continues to advance its commitment to environmental sustainability and global responsibility.
