LNU-REC Conducts Seminar-Workshop on SOPs and Cum Ethics Review Simulation

The Leyte Normal University – Research Ethics Committee (LNU-REC) recently organized a three-day seminar-workshop on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Forms Cum Ethics Review Simulation on November 28 to 30, 2023 at the LNU House.

The workshop aimed to orient the four Research Ethics Panels (REP) under LNU-REC, namely, the Graduate School and Faculty REP, the College of Education REP, the College of Arts and Sciences REP, and the College of Management and Entrepreneurship REP regarding the SOPs to be followed while performing their responsibilities.

The SOPs comply with the 2020 Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) Policies and Requirements for Accreditation of Research Ethics Committees.

The participants then demonstrated their knowledge of the SOPs through an Ethics Review Simulation, where they showcased the research review protocols and processes.

Dr. Lina G. Fabian, the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, emphasized the importance of LNU-REC, stating that it would play an instrumental role in preserving the integrity and credibility of the institution’s research initiatives.
