LNU Sparks Dialogue on Positive Masculinity Seminar

Leyte Normal University, through its Gender and Development (GAD) office and Junior Social Workers’ Association of the Philippines (JSWAP) – LNU Chapter, conducted a seminar titled Positive Masculinity and Women’s Empowerment on December 4, 2024 at the LNU House Function Hall.
Faculty members and students attended the event showcasing the university’s collective commitment to gender advocacy. Chief Prosecutor Ma. Liza Miscala-Jorda served as the resource speaker, delivering an engaging discussion focused on the legal frameworks supporting women’s rights. She underscored the importance of implementing and advocating for laws that protect women and promote gender equity in all spheres of society.
The seminar highlighted key laws related to women’s empowerment and harassment prevention. Participants engaged in an open forum, raising questions about the practical application of these laws and their impact on local communities.
The program concluded with a reaffirmation of the university’s commitment to promoting gender-responsive initiatives. The Director of the GAD office, Dr. Gerardo Nicol, provided the closing remarks, emphasizing the importance of continued advocacy on gender-related issues. The seminar stands as a testament to the university’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and empowering academic environment.
