LNU DRRM Director Bags Top Honors at International Research Festival on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Adaptation

Prof. Jose Ismael S. Salamia, the Director of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Pollution Control of Leyte Normal University, clinched the First Place Paper Presenter and First Place Best Presenter awards during the 5th International Research Festival on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Change Adaptation. The event was held at Reyna’s Haven and Gardens, Tagbilaran City, on January 23-25, 2025.

Salamia’s research paper titled “Leveraging Institutional Insights from University Ranking System to Strengthen Climate Change Adaptation Strategies: A Content Analysis” shed light on how university ranking systems can be utilized to strengthen climate change adaptation strategies by highlighting institutional strengths and promoting sustainable practices.

The event, themed “Resilience and Responsibility: Strengthening a Unified Front for a Sustainable Future Against Climate Risks and Environmental Challenges,” was part of the 14th Students’ Actions Vital to the Environment and Mother Earth (SAVE ME) Movement National Convention on Environment, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk. It brought together environmental advocates, academics, and researchers from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across the country to foster collaboration and advance sustainable practices.
