IPOPHL Confers LNU with Multiple Honors at ITSO Presidents’ Summit 2025

Leyte Normal University (LNU) earned national recognition at the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) Presidents’ Summit and General Assembly held on April 10, 2025, in Metro Manila. Despite being a newly accredited member of the ITSO network as of September 2024, during the presidency of Dr. Evelyn B. Aguirre, LNU emerged as one of the most awarded institutions at the event.

LNU received the prestigious Gold Cluster Award, along with Special Citation Awards for Patents, Trademark, and Copyright, a remarkable feat for a newly inducted ITSO member. These accolades recognize LNU’s rapid progress and commitment to promoting innovation and intellectual property awareness.

Themed “Empowering ITSOs towards Global Recognition of Innovation Breakthroughs,” the summit highlighted the growing international presence and impact of the ITSO network across the Philippines. The event featured a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement of the new ITSO member institutions, marking their formal integration into the national innovation ecosystem.

Representing LNU were Dr. Jonas P. Villas, OIC-University President and Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension; Ma. Chrischelle F. Bullecer, IPO General Manager; and IPO Technical Experts Jefferson E. Flores and Vanessa M. Tagaro.
