LNU, PNU, and TEC Partner to Realign SHS Curriculum Toward Teacher Education

Leyte Normal University (LNU), in collaboration with the Teacher Education Council (TEC) and the Philippine Normal University (PNU), has launched Project RITE (Redirecting Senior High School to Support Track to Teacher Education) to strengthen the link between the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum and pre-service teacher education programs in the Philippines.
The initiative aims to identify curriculum components and institutional pathways that can better prepare SHS graduates for teaching careers. It also seeks to generate policy recommendations that address gaps between secondary education and teacher training.
Leading the project is Dr. Joyce M. Magtolis, Vice President for Student Development and a seasoned researcher from the College of Education at LNU.
The initiative responds to the increasing need for policy-based and data-driven solutions in bridging the gap between SHS education and teacher training. By examining academic and co-curricular components of SHS, the project seeks to develop recommendations that promote teacher readiness, strengthen teaching pathways, and enhance the overall quality of teacher education in the country.
