Saysay han Gintikangan Reignites Waraynon Pride at LNU
TACLOBAN CITY, PHILIPPINES (Oct. 22, 2025) — Conduct of Saysay han Gintikangan at LNU HRDC Alba Hall.
Leyte Normal University, through its College of Education Social Science Unit, held “Saysay han Gintikangan” on October 22, 2025, at the HRDC Alba Hall, with the theme “Kaagi ngan Kadaugan: Kusog nga Panurundon han Sinirangan Bisayas.” Distinguished speakers included Prof. Voltaire Q. Oyzon, Mr. Lakan Uhay D. Alegre, and Mr. Jerry Sambo Yaokasin, who shared thought-provoking insights on the region’s cultural legacy and historical narratives, inspiring the audience to preserve and honor their heritage.
This year’s forum gathered educators, students, and history advocates to revisit the roots of Eastern Visayan identity and celebrate the resilience of the Waray people through meaningful discussions on culture, language, and regional heritage. The event served as a venue for reflection on the triumphs and struggles that have shaped the collective memory and enduring spirit of the Sinirangan Bisayas.
