MAEd Student Wins Best Paper Award in the IC-GrATE and IGTES
Mark Phel B. Trota’s paper titled Closing the quality gap: Diagnosing errors in teacher-made tests for pedagogical and assessment reform was adjudged BEST PAPER – Top 2, with a rating of 91.20, during the 1st International Conference on Graduate Research in Teacher Education (IC-GRaTE 2025) and the 3rd International Graduate Teacher Education Summit (IGTES), held on November 19-21, 2025 at Palawan State University.
Trota is a Master of Arts in Education major in Language Teaching student at Leyte Normal University. His excellent research presentation brings great honor and distinction to the university and to the program where he belongs. It is also a testament to the strong research culture at the LNU-Graduate School.
Other LNU graduate students who participated in the IC-GrATE 2025 and IGTES were Arlene V. Gillo (Doctor of Arts – Language Teaching), Mary Antonette B. Cosipag (Doctor of Education – Educational Administration), Raymond Negros (Master of Arts in Education – Mathematics), and Karlvie Nadine Capisinio (Master of Arts in Education – Educational Management).
Meanwhile, Dr. Jacqueline I. Espina, Associate Dean of the Graduate School served as Day 3 panel discussant as well as moderator in one of the parallel sessions. Dr. Myrna L. Macalinao, Associate Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Las Johansen B. Caluza, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Maria Lourdes G. Tan, BSED Program Head, also performed the role of an onsite session moderator/facilitator.
They considered this three-day event a significant platform to engage in international discussions, focusing on how graduate faculty and students can make teacher education research more fair, relevant, and prepared for the changes ahead.
