LNU Joins Nationwide 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women
TACLOBAN CITY, PHILIPPINES (Dec. 10, 2025) – University-wide forum to end violence against women held at Leyte Normal University Ballroom (LNU) Hall
Leyte Normal University, through the strong collaboration of the Gender and Development (GAD) Office and the Junior Social Workers’ Association of the Philippines–LNU Chapter (JSWAP), organized a university-wide forum titled “The Power of Allies: Collective Responsibility to Eliminate Violence Against Women” on December 10, 2025, at the LNU Ballroom.
This initiative was held in support of the national 18-Day Campaign to End VAW, advancing the theme “United for a VAW-Free Philippines.” The event gathered faculty, staff, and students to strengthen awareness on VAW, deepen understanding of protection laws, and highlight the vital role of allies in promoting safe and inclusive communities.
The forum featured Atty. Alberto R. Ada Jr., Integrated Bar of the Philippines–Leyte Gender Focal Person, who shared key insights on engaging men and boys as partners in preventing violence and emphasized collective responsibility in upholding women’s rights and well-being. The event also marked the official launch of LNU’s signature initiative, “VOW to End VAW,” further reinforcing the university’s ongoing commitment to gender advocacy and empowerment.
