LNU Student Secures 3rd Place in Global Video Contest Celebrating Coconut Sustainability

Ricardo Custodio Jr., a third-year BA Communication student at Leyte Normal University, won 3rd place in the short video competition of the World Coconut Day 2024 celebration. His video, titled “From Tree to Bottle,” gained recognition at the event held from September 30 to October 4 at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
The competition formed part of an event organized by the International Coconut Community (ICC) and the Kokonas Indastri Koporesen (KIK). This year’s theme, “Coconut for a Circular Economy: Building Partnerships for Maximum Value,” highlighted sustainable practices and collaborations within the coconut industry.
The International Coconut Community (ICC) serves as an intergovernmental organization of coconut-producing countries established in 1969, and the Philippines is one of its member countries. The ICC operates under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP).
