LNU Student Researchers Shine in 3rd National DABEST Congress
Student Researchers from Leyte Normal University’s (LNU) Bachelor of Information Technology (BSIT) and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSEntrep) received honors during the Development Studies, Arts & Humanities, Agri-Fisheries, Business & Economics, Education, Science & Engineering, and Technology & Innovation (DABEST) Congress. This event was held at Eastern Visayas State University in Tacloban City on October 17-18, 2024.
BSIT students Sean Davenn H. Pulma, Ma. Aizell B. Adizas and Janine Salve M. Memoracion won the Best Paper Award in the Technology Innovation Strand for their research, “Mobile-based Deep Learning Detection of Melanoma.” Pulma also secured 2nd Place in the Best Presenter category. Prof. Las Johansen B. Caluza and Aiko L. Amago served as mentors to the team.
BSEntrep students Carl Justine A. Vargas and Alegna Marie S. Perez earned 3rd Place in the Best Presenter category for their study, “Factors Affecting Students’ Preferences and Decision Making in Visiting Coffee Shops in Tacloban City,” under the advisorship of Prof. Raul John H. Delos Reyes.
The two-day event, organized by Eastern Visayas State University, served as a platform for student researchers from across the Philippines to showcase their expertise and innovative ideas.
