LNU IT Professor Caluza Wins Best Paper and Presenter in ICITE 2024, South Korea

Dr. Las Johansen B. Caluza of the Applied Sciences Department at Leyte Normal University clinched the Best Paper and Best Presenter awards during the International Conference on Information Technology Education (ICITE) 2024, held from November 21-23 at Woosong University – SolBridge International School of Business, Daejeon, South Korea.
Dr. Caluza’s research, titled “Rice Leaf Diseases Convolutional Neural Network via VGG-16 Embeddings and Feature Reduction Algorithms,” introduces an innovative application of technology for detecting rice leaf diseases. By combining convolutional neural networks with advanced algorithms, the study provides a faster and more accurate solution for diagnosing plant diseases, marking a significant advancement in agricultural technology.
This year’s ICIT, anchored on the theme “Shaping the Business and Technology in Asia: The Future of Research-driven Innovations, Practices, and Digital Integration,” generated 150 scholarly articles submissions and rigorously reviewed by an expert panel.
