Leyte Normal University Receives Book Donations from Family of Renowned Scientist

TACLOBAN CITY, PHILIPPINES (Nov. 11, 2025) — Turnover of donated books from the family of Dr. Peter David Noerdlinger at Leyte Normal University Learning Resource Center (LNU-LRC).
The Leyte Normal University (LNU) received a donation of books from the family of the late Dr. Peter David Noerdlinger, a distinguished scientist known for his extensive contributions to Astrophysics, Cosmology, Geolocation, Orbital Mechanics, and Climate Change studies.
Dr. Noerdlinger, who passed away on October 9, 2024, was the husband of Ms. Maribel B. Aguilos, an alumna of the Leyte Normal Laboratory School Class of 1973. The donation was made in his memory to honor his lifelong commitment to science, education, and research.
Throughout his career, Dr. Noerdlinger authored and co-authored more than 140 publications and reports, and his work significantly advanced global understanding in his fields of study.
Representing the family was Rev. Msgr. Ramon Stephen Aguilos, brother of Ms. Aguilos, who personally turned over the books to the university.
Facilitating the donation on behalf of Leyte Normal University were Prof. Reynerio Mendoza, Community Extension Services Coordinator for the Graduate School, and Dr. Lowell A. Quisumbing, Director of the Community Extension Services Office.
The donated books will be added to LNU’s collection to inspire future generations of learners and researchers, continuing Dr. Noerdlinger’s legacy of advancing knowledge and promoting scientific inquiry
