The Leyte Normal University Sustainable Anti-Poverty Policy affirms the university’s commitment to combating poverty through sustainability-driven, ethical, and inclusive initiatives. It integrates environmental, social, and good governance (ESGG) principles in all poverty alleviation programs, ensuring that efforts to uplift communities are both responsible and long-lasting. Guided by the University Anti-Poverty Policy Committee, LNU promotes collaboration, transparency, and impactful action to improve lives without compromising the welfare of future generations.

Pursuant to the Republic Act 10931 also known The Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, the Philippine law institutionalizes free tuition and exemption from other fees in state universities and colleges (SUCs), and local universities and colleges (LUCs) in the Philippines. Henceforth, all students enrolled in the university are free of charge. In addition to this the lowest 24.13% cohort of students in terms of income are provoded with additional living allowances.

Leyte Normal University’s No Poverty Initiatives focus on reducing socio-economic inequality through targeted scholarships, skills development programs, community outreach, and research-based interventions, empowering students and local communities to achieve sustainable livelihoods and long-term economic stability.

The university anti poverty programs aims to support students belonging to the 20% of the household income group by providing food, housing, transportation and legal services to enable them to complete their studies.

Research On No Poverty
Leyte Normal University is one with the aim of producing an environment that will be compliant with the Sustainable Development Goals specifically SDG1 which is on No Poverty. From 2017 to the present, the university produced a total of 31 research studies and were utilized based on citations. Of these publications, there were two research studies related to No poverty co-authored with an individual coming from a low-middle income country. It is a continuing vision of the university to produce more studies in the future that would call for the eradication of poverty in all its manifestations and will benefit people everywhere, including the poorest and the marginalized sectors of the community.
