Normalistas Bag iPOVCON Best Documentary Video Award

A team of BA Communication (BA Comm) students from Leyte Normal University (LNU) grabbed the Best Documentary Video Award for “Pinong Pangarap (Pure Ambition)” at the recently concluded 4th International Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development (iPOVCON) held at Rizal Park Hotel, Manila on October 05, 2023.

Jon Ivan Torreros, along with Jermae Capuyan, Janaya Villanueva, Kaye Magbulogtong, and Alexa Patawaran, all sophomore communications students, composed the winning production team with Prof. Eva Rosal as adviser.

The documentary “Pinong Pangarap” sheds light on their challenging circumstances and aims to raise awareness, particularly among those in positions of power and privilege, about the ongoing need for sustainable development in the lives of individuals like Arturo “Kuya Jun” Agner Jr., a 47-year-old sand miner (paragbaras).

iPOVCON is an international research conference participated in by people from various organizations (academe, government units, and other organizations) geared to reduce if not eradicate poverty.
