LNU GAD Office Symposium Advocates Gender Equality and Women Empowerment


The Gender and Development (GAD) Office of LNU, headed by its Director, Dr. Gerardo P. Nicol, organized a symposium in celebration of Women’s Month with the theme Aningal – Resonating Voices: Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment at the LNU Ballroom Hall on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Paulina N. Nayra, President of WEAVERS and co-chairperson of RGADC VIII, along with Dr. Ervina A. Espina, Coordinator of Ugnayan ng Pahinungod and former coordinator of the GAD program at UP Tacloban, served as resource speakers who shared valuable insights and ideas on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.

During their talk, the speakers emphasized the importance of promoting gender equality and women empowerment in society. Despite the pressing societal issues in the present, the speakers advocate achieving true equality, which lies in practicing equity, ensuring that everyone is treated fairly and given equal opportunities to succeed.

The symposium was attended by students from different programs, faculty, staff, and technical working group members of the GAD Office.
