An Lantawan Reaps National Journalism Excellence Awards
An Lantawan, the official student publication of Leyte Normal University, garnered six prestigious awards at the Organization of Student Services Educators, Inc. (OSSEI) National Training Workshop on Campus Journalism held at Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City, on Friday, September 28.
The awards received by An Lantawan are as follows:
• First Place for Best Published News Report: Janaya Villanueva, News Editor, for her article titled “LNU slammed over repressive actions against student pub”
• Second Place for Best Published Opinion Article: Editorial titled “Clamors have fallen on deaf ears again”
• Third Place for Best Published News Photograph: “Tumindig, Umigpaw, Lumaban” by former photojournalist Arrah Villaflor
• Third Place in the Tabloid/Semi-broadsheet category for An Lantawan’s tabloid for the Academic Year 2023-2024
• Fifth Place for Best Newsletter
• Second Place in Most Multi-Platform Engagements for its web and social media presence
The conference, held from September 26-28, 2024, was attended by representatives from 24 universities and colleges across the country.
