Remembering Yolanda: Leyte Normal University Honors Victims and Celebrates Resilience
Leyte Normal University, on November 8, 2024, held a solemn commemoration to honor the victims and survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda, blending remembrance with resilience.
The observance began with a Eucharistic Mass for the lost souls, attended by the administration, students, faculty, and staff.
Attendees, then, participated in the Silent Walk of Remembrance from the HRDC Multipurpose Hall to the ORC Grounds, reflecting on the lives lost during the disaster and paying tribute to those who had departed.
An offering of the Living Rosary, a symbol of unity and hope, brought together hearts in prayer. Following this, participants engaged in Candlelight Vigil, illuminating the ORC grounds with a solemn light.
An artistic and powerful narrative dance and a heartfelt song captured the grief, resilience, and strength of those affected.
The event concluded with a prayer for peace and a final song, reaffirming the community’s strength and commitment to honoring the past while fostering hope for the future.
The commemoration stands as a symbol of unity and enduring resilience within the LNU community.
